Smudger from Darlington stayed in Manchester

5 of 5 starsReviewed 24 June 2011

We stayed here after being recommended by a pal at work, and we were not disappointed! Even before our arrival, the staff were double helpful, in giving additional directions to the car park as Coronation Street’ were filming outside and had restricted some access. When we got there, the whole place had a great feel and buzz about it – it was very stylish and comtemporary in its design, and was well located to explore the city without having to walk that far!

The room itself (we stayed in a Grande Studio) had everything that you could possibly need for a 2 week stay, let alone just the one night! It was tastfully decorated, with nice quality fixtures and fittings and had a real ‘plush’ feel to it. As we were on the 4th floor we had a great view over towards Chinatown, and I must admit we did enjoy a couple of glasses of wine sat watching the world go by below us. Although we didn’t use it, there was free use of the in room Apple Mac as well.

In the morning the included ‘breakfast to go’ was a nice touch, before we set off back home.

My only ever so slight grumble was that the air conditioning was a bit ‘rattly’ during the night – but I am being really picky there!

All in all a great place to stay if you are visiting Manchester, and we will certainly be back in the near future!

TOP TIP – Join the Roomzzz royalty club first, and get at least 10% of your stay!!!!!

Trans Pennine Trail

Morning! Have woken up trying to decide what to do over the Easter weekend, there are so many things I could do I’m having trouble whittling them down to a manageable size! Here at Roomzzz we look forward to the long weekends, we like it when our guests stay for a few nights and it got me to thinking about having the extra couple of nights for a Bank Holiday weekend and how if I was staying in Leeds I might want to pop over the hills and have a look at Manchester whilst I have the time… this then lead me to think about the many ways I could do this!

Now of course I could just jump in my car and head across the M62 but where’s the fun in that? So I thought about getting the train, there are two routes I could take one connects into Manchester Victoria – this route goes along a valley bottom through Halifax and Hebden Bridge, it’s a very pretty journey and the station itself is worth a look! The other goes to and from Piccadilly – this is the most speedy journey but is nonetheless scenic – why not get off at Stalybridge and check out their infamous buffet bar? And then there’s the less conventional way of crossing the Pennines… the Trans Pennine Trail, a path which traverses the hills from Southport in the west through Liverpool and Manchester, you can take in Sheffield, Leeds, York and Hull before finishing up on the east coast in Hornsea! Now how you do this is very much up to you… no cars though… it’s two legs, two wheels or four legs to get you along this track!

So I’m away to book a stay in Roomzzz because at the end of the day, however I get across the Pennines I can be sure that my evening will be fabulous!

Looking at Leeds in 2011

Posted on: No Comments

What a difference a year can make. It doesn’t seem two seconds ago when we were sitting in Roomzzz Aparthotel sometime last January. But while we continue to offer two of the finest hotels and serviced apartments in Leeds, the city itself is changing fast.

The perfect destination for a short break and, with a host of world class conference facilities, a business trip, Yorkshire’s biggest city is also an ideal choice for a night out. And as the New Year arrived, so too did a fresh destination on the area’s burgeoning nightlife map.

Vox has been open for a short while now. It be a few months before all the city centre faithful discover this converted warehouse gem, but discerning clubbers from across the country have already had a look. Located just out of town off the M621, it offers state of the art lighting, a soundsystem capable of bringing the brickwork down, and an events calendar that’s the envy of most venues.

Staying on a musical note, we’re delighted to hear that the Council have confirmed there will be even more reasons to book a night with us on the cards in the not-too-distant future. Work will soon begin on Leeds Arena, a new, world class, 13,500 capacity performance and events space located on Clay Pit Lane. In addition to the big name acts the ‘future theatre’, as the building is being referred to, will attract, it will also boast a unique colour-changing exterior and honeycomb design.

Moving further north, and Leeds’ bustling shopping streets are set to get a whole lot busier, as the new landmark, £300 million Trinity Quarter Shopping Centre continues to take shape. Situated in what was the City Plaza and Burton Arcade, this new 1million square foot development promises to alter the skyline over the next few months, before it revolutionises retail come 2013. 100 stores will be located therein, with restaurants, including a D&D’s, offering everything from quick snacks to haute cuisine.

With such changes on the horizon the city’s future is set as a major capital of culture, fashion and business. We’ll only see the foundations put in place, and the seeds take root over the next year. But this is a place that lives life at some pace, so there’s umpteen new items worth adding to your Leeds itinirary each and every week. As always, we’ll be keeping you updated on the best events and news worth checking out, leaving you free to concentrate on when you want to check in.
