Company Magazine Review Roomzzz!

Roomzzz has been in the press a bit during the last week!

Company Magazine wrote this lovely review about us:

“On a recent trip to Manchester, we stayed at Roomzzz Manchester. It’s housed in a Grade II listed cotton warehouse, boasting high ceilings, long windows, soaring interior spaces and grand Victorian character by the yard.

As you’d expect from a luxury hotel, there’s every concession to contemporary style and comfort with 48 individual apartments to choose from – from compact studios to spacious suites – even a i-mac iand the i-home in every room (perfect for charing your iphone!)

Each one fully fitted for the practicalities of daily life; each one finished with a subtle suggestion of the Orient inspired by the bustle of nearby Chinatown.

It’s easily reached from Manchester Piccadilly railway station, and with Piccadilly Gardens just a few blocks away, the Northern Quarter beyond, Manchester Central and Deansgate’s shopping to the north-west, you’re never far from the heartbeat of this vibrant 21st Century metropolis. So perfect for a girlie weekend of shopping and partying!!!”

Looking for a home from home…

Now we’ve been telling you about our current long stay deal here at Roomzzz and as you know we don’t like to blow our own trumpet…. so here’s a review from one of our guests…

IdWicked from Dehli who stayed at Leeds City West wrote:-

“I stayed in this hotel for more than 4 months on a business trip. From day 1 i felt like it was home away from home. The rooms were brilliant and clean (Bigger than any other hotel) , every room had a kitchenette (No other Hotel provides) and it was way economical than any other hotel i looked for in Leeds.

The best part of the hotel was the staff. They are always there to make sure that i was comfortable and had no issues what so ever. They even upgraded me from a Standard room to a Superior room for no extra cost.

I would like to record my thanks and appreciation for all the employees of Roomzzz Apart hotel starting from David, Guntars, Zuzanna , Haidee, Innocent, Vikas, Angad, Susanne , Travis and Shine . Thanks Guys…”

Great eggs to crack

It feels like we’ve only just gone to bed after New Year’s Eve. Yet already 2011 has been racing by. Easter is fast approaching, meaning this is the ideal time to start planning for a well needed break.

Britain boasts many destinations that make it easy to forget about flying abroad. But, after running the finest luxury hotels in Leeds city centre, and welcoming guests to our fantastic serviced apartments in central Manchester, we believe there are no finer towns to pick when looking for an urban getaway.

Easter falls late this year, meaning those April showers should be on the wane. If you’re looking for some outdoors action, then try heading south from Central Manchester to the Mersey Valley. A culmination of Sale Water Park, Ivy Green, Urmston Meadows, and some 14 other conservation sites, this expansive open area lies in the city’s most south-westerly corner. Lakes with watersports, pubs, landscaping, woodland and a new Metrolink link bringing the Chorlton entrance just 25 minutes away from St Peter’s Square make it impossible to ignore.

On the other side of the Pennines, within similarly easy reach of the city centre, Leeds’ Roundhay Park stands like a jewel in the region’s green crown. One of the biggest areas of non-nationalised parkland in Europe, it’s easy to while away an afternoon exploring the leafy paths that criss-cross the prestigious site. And, should the heavens open, Tropical World is well worth the trip alone.

For a taste of Manchester’s political heritage, and an explanation as to how it became such a significant settlement, head to the People’s History Museum. Located in Castlefield, the world’s first Urban Heritage Site, walk through the doors for a guided tour of workers’ rights, suffragettes, The Manchester Guardian, trade unionism and the Communist Manifesto- all of which have roots in this town.

One of Leeds’ cultural highlights has to be the Royal Armouries. Not for the faint-hearted, by visiting Clarence Dock you can explore over 8,500 objects on display over five galleries, divided into categories like war, oriental and hunting. This is the flagship museum of its kind in the country, so expect a scale befitting this accolade.

Once you’ve ticked these off the list, explore Manchester’s historic grandeur inside the Royal Exchange Theatre and John Rylands on Deansgate- Britain’s oldest public library. Or simply take to the surrounding streets for a spot of consumerism in the birthplace of capitalism, what could be more Mancunian than that?

In lovely Leeds a visit to the Town and Civic Halls is a must, as both buildings offer breathtaking examples of neo Gothic and Georgian architecture. And, close by, The Henry Moore Institute retains one of the most cherished sculpture collections in Europe, from contemporary to classical, with special events running all year round.

Obviously then there’s a wealth of internationally acclaimed attractions, sites and sights to take in. And the north of England’s two largest cities both make for an ideal base to take in the surrounding Shires from. As such, whether staying central, or hitting the sticks, you’ll be celebrating the end of spring, and start of summer in style.

Love isn’t love until you give it a day

Temperatures are rising, and it’s not just the climate that’s heating up. As one of the finest hotels in Leeds city centre, and a gem in and amongst the many Manchester city centre hotels, we know that love is in the air above both cities.

February 14th is fast approaching, and we all know what that means. So get your creative cap on, not to mention a card for your loved one, and prepare to engage in a night that should end passionately.

Valentine’s Day is a difficult one to plan, restaurants have a habit of getting booked up, and as for the cinema… well, good luck turning up sans tickets to any screening, whether that’s morning, noon or night. But if you stick to these simple suggestions that special someone should have a real evening to remember…

Love in Leeds

Before you walk, arm in arm, through the door of some fine eatery to indulge in oysters it’s important to set the mood. This means if you don’t have a car, get a taxi, and leave that bus pass at home. Pre-dinner drinks are the best way to create a relaxed atmosphere, though maybe keep an eye on the quantity. Try Epernay in the Electric Press, Millennium Square- its selection of 45 champagnes should impress.

Once you’re done there, it’s time to soak up some of those bubbles. There’s an abundance of quality restaurants in Leeds, though we’d say it’s important to pick somewhere that’s conducive to wooing. Seafood is an obvious, though wholly classic choice, and there’s only one place to punt for. Live Bait offers an exceptionally fresh catch to sink your teeth into, so seek out The Calls, and then head down Shears Yard (after booking a table that is).

You’ve (fizzy) wined and dined (exceptionally well). But before you call it a night leave the perfect lasting impression with one last, sophisticated drink. You’ve already uncorked a few bottles, meaning any more could leave you, and your wallet, feeling worse for wear. Head to the city’s original cafe bar, Art’s on Call Lane, for a mellow toast. It’s been providing something of a Parisian vibe to locals every evening since 1994, need we say any more?

Amour in Manchester

After establishing a meeting point it’s time to choose your first venue. This is no mean feat, as the city boasts countless bars suitable for such an event. While there are plenty of contenders, we’d say starting the date at The Gaslamp on Quay Street should stand you in good stead. A listed building, recent refurbishments have re-invented this once dilapidated Victorian gem, meaning it’s now the perfect place for an intimate chat in front of open fires.

Now for the food, and we’ve got an ideal venue in which to woo. Head to Tib Lane for Lounge Ten, one of the best kept secrets in town. A listed building complete with stunning facade, the architecture matches the classic elegance of the food, which, like the vibe of the place, is inspired by Paris of the late 19th Century. Think decadence, red velvet, crystal chandeliers, wall-length mirrors and sexy artwork to get you in the mood for romance.

By now spirits will hopefully be high, and neither of you will want to wind things up any time soon. So how about a low-lit, basement bar famed for cocktails and canapés to finish the night? Obsidian is hidden away underneath Princess Street, just around the corner from Roomzzz Aparthotel. Once found, descend the stairs into this contemporarily designed bar that’s a regular hang out for Manchester’s many movers and shakers.
