Reviewed 17 December 2011

Second time to Manchester this year and this time there was no question were to stay. Our stay at Roomzzz back in May was a success, and so was it this time. We stayed there from monday 21.November until wednesday, traveling from Oslo for the CL game at Old Trafford. We lived at second floor with windows out to the crossroad, but it was very litle noise in the room. Once again we loved the stay, and next time we go to Manchester we wil definitely stay at Roomzzz.

Love it! Our hotel in Manchester city centre gets such lovely feedback it makes us very proud!

Now onto today’s business and another clue and the third word…

Clue 8: Visit our Manchester hotel on our website – check out the penthouse suite the first part our our clue is the last letter on the first line…

The second letter is the first letter of the third sentance of the last paragraph on this same page!

Have stayed all over Manchester, even the Lowry and this place is definitely on par! The rooms are absolutely gorgeous, so modern and luxurious. Perfect location, 5-10 minute walk to all the shops and literally on the door step of Chinatown.

Staff were lovely and helpful with everything, from ordering taxi’s to chinese takeaways!

Bathroom absolutely stunning, huge double shower, two sinks.. And to go back to the room, 4-poster bed, soooo spacious, imac computer which spins round so you can watch tv in bed! Big wardrobe, cute little modern kitchen area, so so sooo nice!! We were on the second floor, heard some bad reviews about thin walls?! Never heard a thing, decor throughout is amazing, even the corridors and reception. three huge windows in our apartment (Grande Studio) with gorgeous black shutters on the inisde and then roller black out blinds as well. Can’t comment on the grab and go breakfast as we never got up in time for it haha! Also people moaning about the air con, the air con was brilliant and kept the room constantly very cool!! Will definitely be returning have already recommended to my family and friends… Just brilliant!

Duck!

It’s that time of year again… when we launch yellow plastic ducks into the Irwell, shout at them as they travel along the river, hopefully making it over the finish line!

The race starts at 2pm on Friday 23rd April from Irwell Square in Spinningfields Manchester, thousands of ducks are sent down the river – anyone can take part with ducks costing just £1 and all proceeds being donated to Brainwave. It’s a great day out for all the family and there are lots of fantastic prizes to be won also!

What’s on Manchester….

Yesterday I focussed on what you can do in Leeds and Yorkshire throughout April and over those lovely bank holidays we’re getting! Now today as I was rumaging through the internet to look at Manchester I found a list of the best things you can do free of charge… as you know we love luxury but we also go wild for a bargain so I thought I would share this list with you!
  1. John Rylands Library – A gothic sandstone building on Deansgate recently juxtaposed with a clever modern visitor centre. This fabulous legacy of Cottonopolis was commissioned by Cuban-born Enriqueta Rylands in memory of her philanthropist textile manufacturer husband. There’s more about Manchester’s first multi-millionaire and some fascinating changing exhibitions in the cathedral-like public reading rooms.

  1. Royal Northern College of Music – The only UK conservatoire to be a centre for excellence in teaching and learning, but you can still hear the talented students play for free! Orchestral performances take place in the late-60s concert hall, while the RNCM’s best-kept secret is their Wednesday-lunchtime recitals by soloists and smaller ensembles in the calming and charming setting of St Ann’s Church.

  2. Heaton Park – Manchester’s biggest green space, with lovely views both back over town and out to the Pennines. There’s plenty to do whatever your age: a well-equipped children’s playground; rowing boats, woodland walks and cycle paths; even a grand 18th-century mansion and farm. It’s also home to beekeepers, astronomers, trolley-bus enthusiasts and the Commonwealth Bowling Club.

  3. City Airport – Formerly known as Barton Aerodrome, this was the UK’s first purpose-built municipal airport and it’s still in action today. Sit in the beer garden and watch small planes bump excitedly along the grassy runway as they take off and land, and climb up the Art Deco control tower that dates from 1933.

  1. Whitworth Art Gallery – There’s always something worth seeing at this gallery, part of Manchester University; not least the soon-to-be developed building and its parkside location. Recent highlights have been the Subversive Spaces surrealism show, the American Scene prints exhibition and Walls Are Talking, and the varied event programme includes related talks held in the “secret” lecture theatre.

Gorgeous. Spot on. The apartments are bigger than a hotel room. More light, more space, more furniture and a kitchen. Friendly reception staff.

Well impressed, this place surpassed my best expectations, quirky decor etc. I attended a conference this week in Leeds and WOW, both myself and my colleague were extremely pleased with the comfort, decor and provision at Roomzzz. Stay here, I’m specifically looking to attend some more work functions in Leeds so that I can!

Fantastic place to stay. Very modern stylish and really well appointed. Everything was sparkling clean. Love the concept of short stay self catering serviced apartments.

Cirque Du Soleil returns to Manchester

Cirque Du Soleil returns to Manchester with a captivating and magical show.

Saltimbanco is one of Cirque Du Soleil’s most famous shows. Drawing inspiration from the Italian phrase “saltare in banco”, meaning to jump on a bench, Saltimbanco finds magic in the life of the metropolis from towering skyscrapers to the bustle and energy of the city’s streets.

Saltimbanco is perhaps the most joyful show in Cirque Du Soleil’s repertoire. Where Quidam, the show that sold out the MEN last year, uses darker elements to highlight the tension of the story, Saltimbanco sees the world-famous circus troupe embrace kaleidoscopic colours and upbeat music in a celebration of the diversity of the city.

Expect to see Cirque Du Soleil’s magic at its best with trapeze artists, aerial dancers, acrobats, contortionists, clowning and jugglers in this spellbinding and unmissable show.

Saltimbanco is on at the MEN Arena from 9th-14th June 2010. Roomzzz is one of the hotels near the MEN Arena. The perfect complement to a great night in Manchester.
