48 individual apartments fully fitted for the practicalities of daily life, finished with a subtle suggestion of the Orient inspired by the bustle of nearby Chinatown. As you’d expect from a luxury hotel, there’s every concession to contemporary style and comfort.

Award wining Grade II listed building boasts high ceilings, long windows, soaring interior spaces, and kitchens equipped with Smeg appliances. This is the height of luxury, by design.

You can choose which of these fabulous locations you’d like to stay in… subject to availability of course but other than that it’s up to you!

We couldn’t have put it better ourselves!

As it’s a rainy Monday morning we thought we’d indulge ourselves again and read some of your lovely reviews. This one was posted on Trip Advisor on the 9th July by droenna from Chester:

“I’ve nothing to add other than I loved this place and would stay here again. Great location too. (next to Yang Sing, along from the Art Gallery, close to trams etc)

What’s on Manchester….

Yesterday I focussed on what you can do in Leeds and Yorkshire throughout April and over those lovely bank holidays we’re getting! Now today as I was rumaging through the internet to look at Manchester I found a list of the best things you can do free of charge… as you know we love luxury but we also go wild for a bargain so I thought I would share this list with you!
  1. John Rylands Library – A gothic sandstone building on Deansgate recently juxtaposed with a clever modern visitor centre. This fabulous legacy of Cottonopolis was commissioned by Cuban-born Enriqueta Rylands in memory of her philanthropist textile manufacturer husband. There’s more about Manchester’s first multi-millionaire and some fascinating changing exhibitions in the cathedral-like public reading rooms.

  1. Royal Northern College of Music – The only UK conservatoire to be a centre for excellence in teaching and learning, but you can still hear the talented students play for free! Orchestral performances take place in the late-60s concert hall, while the RNCM’s best-kept secret is their Wednesday-lunchtime recitals by soloists and smaller ensembles in the calming and charming setting of St Ann’s Church.

  2. Heaton Park – Manchester’s biggest green space, with lovely views both back over town and out to the Pennines. There’s plenty to do whatever your age: a well-equipped children’s playground; rowing boats, woodland walks and cycle paths; even a grand 18th-century mansion and farm. It’s also home to beekeepers, astronomers, trolley-bus enthusiasts and the Commonwealth Bowling Club.

  3. City Airport – Formerly known as Barton Aerodrome, this was the UK’s first purpose-built municipal airport and it’s still in action today. Sit in the beer garden and watch small planes bump excitedly along the grassy runway as they take off and land, and climb up the Art Deco control tower that dates from 1933.

  1. Whitworth Art Gallery – There’s always something worth seeing at this gallery, part of Manchester University; not least the soon-to-be developed building and its parkside location. Recent highlights have been the Subversive Spaces surrealism show, the American Scene prints exhibition and Walls Are Talking, and the varied event programme includes related talks held in the “secret” lecture theatre.

Yeay it’s Monday – the start of a new week and we have that long awaited extra hour of daylight to look forward to! AND this weekend we celebrate Mothering Sunday, why just one day? Make a weekend of it we say and what better way to tell your mum how special she is than a city break and a stay in Roomzzz!

Remember that we have three fabulous hotels in Leeds and another over the hills in Manchester so why not check in and check us out, bring your mum and show her the sights! Either city makes the perfect playground with something for everyone, lunch, shopping, spas, galleries, theatre, cinema so whatever your mum fancies on her special day! Go to our website to book online or call 0844 499 4888.

What to do with that extra hour (of daylight)? Part II

Yesterday we asked you what you were planning to do with the extra hour of daylight when the clocks spring forward this weekend… we had so much fun discussing this amongst ourselves that we thought we’d encourage the rest of you some more and so our Friday faves this week has a different theme.

Yes all you have to do to win a night in Leeds City West on us this Friday the 25th March* is tell us what you plan to do with the extra hour of daylight post this on our new Facebook page and we will pick a winner tomorrow!

One thing you could do is visit the Tutankhamun exhibition being displayed at the Trafford Centre – it’s your last chance this weekend. The story of Tutankhamun, the ancient Egyptian ‘boy king’, has captivated audiences around the world and now you can experience it first hand in Manchester.

Tutankhmun: His Tomb and His Treasures promises to take you on a fascinating journey through time to discover the relics of a forgotten tomb, only uncovered in in 1922 by archaeologist Howard Carter.

Most of Tutankhamun’s treasures are held in the Egyptian National Museum in Cairo and his tomb and mummy are preserved in the Valley of Kings, making this new exhibition a unique opportunity to experience the legendary tomb in what the organisers call ‘virtual archaeology’

PS We now have two brand new Facebook pages – don’t forget to visit them and recommend us!

A Very Royal Engagement

Posted on: No Comments

What do we hear from our spectacular combination of serviced apartments and boutique hotels in Leeds? Westminster Abbey might be a few hundred miles south, but wedding bells are ringing in Yorkshire.

Likewise, our high-specification accommodation in central Manchester is alive with talk of Friday April 29th. Prince William and Kate Middleton are to marry in the most prestigious venue England has to offer, while up and down the country people will be getting in on the act, and celebrating in style.

As you can imagine, London will be bursting to the brim with eager spectators, clambering for a peek at the beautiful bride. But fear not, a trip to the capital isn’t the only way to make sure you feel part of the event. Many a council plans to mark the occasion, and there will no doubt be plenty going on in most towns.

It’s also the perfect time of year for a short break in a British city. The nights will be lighter, temperatures milder, and you’ll still have enough time to save for that summer holiday. So, if up North East or North West when the big day finally arrives, here are our top tips for ‘joining in’, in your own special way…

Indulge in fantasy (just don’t get too involved)
Caroline Castigliano is amongst the UK’s most acclaimed wedding dress-makers. Do some window-shopping, or dare to step inside the Headrow boutique, then resume your Leeds retail therapy elsewhere.

Remember the details
Delicacies are essential, real wedding or not. Slattery’s in Prestwich is Manchester’s chocolate heaven. Hark as complicated cakes are painstakingly crafted, before filling your boots in the tearoom upstairs.

Diamonds are a girl’s best friend
Dazzle, the UK’s leading jewellery exhibition and fare, just left Manchester. But head across town to the Northern Quarter’s Craft Centre for perfect rings, and five minutes with the designer.

Tea at the Palace

Temple Newsam House is truly unique. Comprising a stately home widely known as the ‘Hampton Court of the north’, gardens, grounds and a rare breed farm, there’s no finer place to be in Leeds at 3pm.

A blue-blooded pursuit

Hunting isn’t a city activity. But travel 20 minutes from Manchester city centre to aim over 400 acres of beautiful woodland at Manchester Clay Shooting Club in Worsley, before retiring to the drawing room.
