Things to do this coming month!

Posted on:

With the summer months fast approaching, we thought we’d pull together a list of the very best things to see and do when staying with us at our Roomzzz Apartments in Manchester, Leeds and Newcastle over the coming months.

Starting with Leeds, here is just a small selection on the latest goings on.

Those seeking a little more culture should look no further than the Northern Art Prize at Leeds Art Gallery

Celebrating contemporary visual artists based in the North of England, the Northern Art Prize has established itself as an important award – recognised nationally as a relevant profiler of artists working in the North East, North West and Yorkshire regions.

Thu 28 Mar 2013 – Sun 16 Jun 2013

If you are looking to treat your dad this Father’s Day then why not head to Harewood House witch is gearing up to Father’s Day Classic Motor Show with hundreds of vintage and classic cars to admire. On the day there’ll be a full arena programme showcasing all the vehicles and prizes will be given out at the end of the day for best in class.

Sun 16th June

Moving across the Pennines, those of you heading to Manchester are in for a treat, with a wealth of cultural, musical and sporting events all taking place over the coming month.

Here are just a few to whet the appetite.

For the musical lovers amongst you, why not check out the fabulous production of Dirty Dancing?

On at Manchester’s Palace Theatre from 21 May – 15 June 2013, Dirty Dancing is an unprecedented live experience, exploding with heart-pounding music, passionate romance and sensationally sexy dancing.

If musicals aren’t to your taste, how about some all out rock?

Southern US rock siblings Kings of Leon will be playing two shows at Manchester Arena on 24 and 25 June 2013. The performances will start at 19:30 on both nights. The Tennessee quartet will be performing tracks from their sixth studio album, alongside hits from their decade-plus rock back catalogue.

For those of you heading to our favourite city in the North East (Newcastle for those of you who don’t know!), there is plenty for you to do over the coming month.

World famous musical Cats is making an appearance at the Sunderland Empire.

One of the longest-running shows in West End and Broadway history, Cats has enchanted audiences in over 300 cities around the world – now you too have the chance to experience this legendary musical phenomenon.

With an amazing musical score that includes the timeless Memory, spectacular set designs, stunning costumes and breath taking choreography, Cats is a magical musical like no other.

Tue 28 May – Sat 8 June

Regressing along the evolutionary chain, we segway nicely from Cats to Dinosaurs with the Natural History Museum exhibition – Age of the Dinosaur – visiting Newcastle’s Life Science Centre

Be transported back to the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. Age of the Dinosaur, a Natural History Museum exhibition, gives you a glimpse of life as it was 65 million years ago.

Featuring around 50 real specimens, realistic models, CGI, full-scale animatronics and stunning film footage, Age of the Dinosaur paints an evocative picture and tells a compelling scientific story of a vital period in Earth’s history.

“Cosy and Stylish Aparthotel”

“Cosy and Stylish Aparthotel” – what a perfect description of our city centre hotel in Manchester!

5 of 5 starsReviewed September 30, 2012
We loved our room at Roomzz Aparthotel. It was big enough to feel spacious with kitchenette and bedroom cleverly designed around each other but compact enough to feel cosy, especially after a days shopping on a cool autumn day. Big comfortable bed, high celings, apple mac streaming music into the room. What more could you ask for! Located in central Manchester, less than 10 mins walk from the Arndale Shopping centre and all the surrounding shops, bars, restaurants etc. The ‘grab and go’ breakfast really is ‘grab and go’ with no plates but you can take it up to your kitchenette, which is fully stocked, and enjoy it there with your free newspaper. Cheerful, helpful staff. We’ll definitely come back!

We all love a good bank holiday!

Posted on: No Comments

We also love the internet – being curious about bank holidays and looking forward to the weekend, we did a search… wikipedia told us all about it!

“A bank holiday is a public holiday in the United Kingdom or a colloquialism for public holiday in Ireland. There is no automatic right to time off on these days, although banks close and the majority of the population is granted time off work or extra pay for working on these days, depending on their contract. The first official bank holidays were the four days named in the Bank Holidays Act 1871, but today the term is colloquially (albeit incorrectly) used for public holidays which are not officially bank holidays, for example Good Friday and Christmas Day. Many large shops open on bank holidays, when most people have a day off for shopping, heavily advertising sales and bargains.”

Above all Bank Holidays MUST be fun, in this country we are so over the weather – we expect rain when we’re not at work and we don’t let it spoil the weekend… Here at Roomzzz this goes double… we love a bit of bad weather… it means we can hunker down in our cosy rooms… any excuse not to leave! And why would we want to… perfect city centre hotel in Manchester, luxurious accommodation in the centre of Leeds and shortly a fabulous hotel in Newcastle… we’d be mad to tackle the weather!

What a great idea!

“What a great idea!” – we think so too… this is what FortyEngland thought of our city centre hotel in Manchester!

This is the first time I’ve stopped in this style of hotel and I would really recommend it! Large spacious room in the heart of Manchester for just £99. It will be a tenner cheaper next time with the loyality card! Its got lots of pluses ie a desk and a computer! Free local and national calls from your room; free wifi!!! Its very modern and just the feel I like! Friendly and very helpful receptionist and car park is very handy and looks safe.

"A Fantastic Place To Stay!"

Roomzzz is perfect for a number of reasons. It is extremely good value for money, It is a short walk from both Victoria/Piccadilly stations and the city centre and it has everything you could ever want/need in your room. This offers so much more than a standard hotel and surprisingly doesn’t charge any more for that service. Your trip in Manchester will be a memorable one if you decide to stay here. I shall be visiting more often – Manchester is a fantastic city and your visit should include Roomzzz.

5 of 5 starsReviewed 11 April 2012
I have just stayed here last night, we paid £104 for our room which I believe was one up from the normal, lower priced rooms. We first checked the Raddison where I would normally stay in Manchester and was my fav hotel. However, this place is first class, very clean & modern. Cannot find one fault with this place which is a rarity for myself.

The room had an Applemac computer!! A lot of space, high quality furniture. The most comfy bed ever!

The in floor spot lights were a nice feature, the windows all around. Shower was amazing.

I want to live here! Should really give this place a try!

I will be staying over here every time I stay in Manchester now.
