Things to do on Halloween in Leeds, Manchester and Newcastle

Posted on:

Halloween is just around the corner, and it’s time for you to get your plans into full swing. Whether you’re looking to head into the city centre, or for something a little different, we’ve handpicked some of the best Halloween events taking place in Manchester, Leeds and Newcastle.

Leeds

Harvey Nichols – Halloween Film Night at Espresso Bar

Harvey Nichols fourth floor espresso bar is hosting a Halloween film night on the 31st October. The movie, Edward Scissorhands, will be playing at 7pm while customers indulge in a delicious three-course meal. The evening will cost £24.50 and a £10 deposit will be required when booking. If a film and meal isn’t enough to satisfy your Halloween needs, the event finishes in plenty of time for you to head into Leeds and sample some of the best outfits donned by party-goers at events such as The Voodoo Halloween Showcase at the O2 Academy.

Paranormal Investigation – Leeds Town Hall

If you’re wanting to take a different approach to a night out this Halloween, the first ever paranormal investigation is taking place underneath the Leeds Town Hall in the Victorian Cells. The event runs from 8.00pm till 2.30am with light refreshments available during the breaks. Throughout the night you will experience ‘table tipping’, an EVP (electronic voice phenomenon) session, a Ouija board experiment to contact spirits, along with many more spooky activities. This special event will cost £45.00 per person, and will definitely be a night to remember!

Manchester

Grosvenor Casino Murder Mystery

On the 26th October, the ‘Most Spooked’ murder mystery is taking place at the Grosvenor Casino in Salford. Consisting of a ‘murder’ and a two-course meal, this dining experience, which only costs £17.95, is set to be more unusual than most. Individuals interrogate each other and will slowly unravel the crime as all the evidence is exposed. The night runs from 7pm to 10:30pm, leaving you plenty of the night to head back into Manchester if the mood takes you.

Querky! Halloween Special- Tiger Tiger Manchester

If Halloween fancy dress is your thing, and you think of yourself as an expert costume designer, why not show off your skills on your Halloween night out? Head down to Tiger Tiger in Manchester for their Halloween Querky event, where the best dressed guest of the night will bag themselves £500. Not bad for a nights work!

Newcastle

Halloween Drive-In Movie Theatre

From the 31st October to 2nd November there will be a variety of scary films showing on the newly established drive-in movie theatre in Bents Park. With two viewings each night, the movies generally commence around 6pm or 9pm. Tickets are £20 per car or £24 if you wish to be in the front row. A variety of food is also available (just don’t drop it on your seats!). Give your Halloween experience a taste of America with this rare event.

Halloween Night Ghost Walk

On the 31st October, a Halloween ghost walk is taking place in the Castle Prison and Dungeon Séance. The castle is considered to be one of Newcastle’s most haunted places, and has hundreds of real-life stories linked to gruesome evidence. There will be Ouija boards, EVP (electronic voice phenomenon) recordings and a creepy tour of the historic castle by candlelight. Tickets are £10 if you book online and £15 on the door, with the walk taking around an hour and a half to complete.

If you’re readying yourself for a big night of Halloween festivities, or are heading for a night out in Leeds, Manchester or Newcastle, make sure you check out Roomzzz Aparthotels for a luxurious state – and end – to your evening.

I booked this for my husbands birthday and we loved it. I booked a studio apartment on the top floor as I’d read that you got a balcony, this was a great added bonus. The bed was comfy, bathroom lovely, iMac great and kitchen was a bonus. Will definitely use Roomzzz when we go to Manchester. Very cheap too, especially with the loyalty card :)

Also don’t forget that today is the last day of April… which means the last day you can take advantage of our Staycation offers… click here to find out more!

My wife and I stayed for one night on a city weekend break while dropping our daughter at University. We loved the city centre (very upmarket shopping and nicely priced restaurants) and this aparthotel blew us away. A large modern room with excellent facilities inc fridge, wasing machine and dishwasher. As it happens, we didnt need them but the room was very clean with modern furnishings. There is no breakfast but good coffee, pastries and fruit juice are available in the lobby. We would definitely stay again.

This is our 3rd stay in a year and it was great to be welcomed by Keith again who has always made our stay special. My 13 year old daughter and I stayed on Friday 9 September for a birthday treat to go to The Royal Exchange. She loved everything about the Liberty Suite which had a fantastic bank of large windows around the corner of the building. The view was brilliant and they were all shuttered with black out blinds and sound proofing. There was no noise from the street below. Nearby are loads of mini supermarkets so we made use of the kitchen facilities and it was a bit of a call whether to go to the theatre we were enjoying the room so much. Then of course the hot chocolate machine in the lobby was truly a 13year old’s dream.

On returning we watched a film and there was no noise from other rooms so I wonder about the reviews mentioning noise as the hotel was very busy. Thank you to Keith who made us feel again like valued regular customers. We will be ringing this Friday hoping for a cancellation on Saturday 17th. Fingers crossed.

Room Tip: All the rooms are fabulous but if your want views of the city ask for a room on the 2nd 3rd or 4th floors. The fifth floor rooms are still great and have loads of velux windows.

Janey Westley
I am getting giddy for my stay tomorrow I love roomzzz it’s so much nicer than hotels, ideal location to shops, china town, theatres, city centre and staggering distance back after a few drinks, the apple mac to plan your day/night and check facebook a superb little extra, nothing more for me to say other than I love Roomzzz and the homely feel

Matteo Noris

I am an Italian student in Manchester. I stayed at Manchester Roomzzz for two nights when my dad came to visit me. I discovered it walking around Manchester and after a fast look on the internet it seemed an incredible place where to stay. It is situated in the vibrating centre of the city which can offer you all kind of entrateinmne…nt : from the Chinese quarter, to deansgate locks ecc. The Aparthotel itself is stunning, all details are perfect and you can’t actually find something you don’t like in there. Even told they are modern, they give you a warm welcome even when the weather in Manchester is “Wet”. I Will surely go back to The Manchester Roomzzz Aparthotel!!

We love all your comments and are really struggling with this one! Stay tuned the winner will be announced shortly…

One of our guests has gone a step further and the following text is a blog written by Mike Roberts, we love this review and wanted to share it with you!
If you’ve ever tried to book hotel rooms in Manchester you’ll know how difficult it is to get a good location and quality of accommodation, without having to re mortgaging the house. Generally your left with the enviable choice of sacrificing location, sacrificing accommodation or paying through the nose for it. That’s why when i was looking to book for a recent trip, i was quite intregiued to see Roomzzz had opened a Manchester Aparthotel. Roomzzz had crossed my path once when we were looking to stay in Leeds (where Roomzzz have 3 aparthotels,) although we didn’t end up going to leeds i was very impressed by the pictures of their rooms and the prices. So when we were booking for our stay in Manchester i was happy to see that Roomzzz had expanded west to Manchester. The prices were very competitive and the rooms looked very nice online. So we took the plunge and booked a liberty suite for 2 nights. We were not disappointed. Roomzzz Manchester is a wonder, its hard to tell on the map but i really can’t think of it being better positioned. China town is literally across the street, picadilly gardens is 2 mins walk so debenhams, primark and the arndale are right on your door step. It is a 3 mins walk to the Palace theatre, 5 mins walk to deansgate with all its pubs and restaurants. On walking into (or down to) the roomzzz lobby you can tell this is no normal hotel.

Roomzzz has the boutique thing going on in spades. Lots of lovely, stylish and comfortable sofas fill the communal area, where the complimentary continental breakfast is served, their is also a pantry where you can buy all those little essentials you may need (including pizzas.) Than into the room. The liberty suites are huge, they are positioned at each corner of the building with massive windows perfect to watch the city outside. The boutique style continues with a very stylish interior, complemented by a full kitchen, large screen tv with dvd player and apple imac!!! I’ve rarely been so impressed by a hotel room. The room was even ultra glazed (i counted at least 4 panes.) meaning we could hardly hear anything from the busy city outside.

The suite was so beautiful, so well appointed it meant we could just relax, and get on with weekend. Which as you could imagine was difficult when we really didn’t want to leave our room.

Endless Sunshine…

Well it is probably back to reality for many of us today…. the endless bank holidays are over (for a few weeks) and it’s back to the grindstone but it’s good to see that the sunshine is still with us as we go about our daily business! And at Roomzzz we feel there’s much to shine about…

I think we all enjoyed the day off and the Royal Wedding on Friday and who couldn’t have failed to have been moved by the whole ceremony and maybe a few wished it was them… well we can’t promise you a prince but we can give you membership to our Royalty Club!

Don’t forget we have hotels in Leeds and Manchester and your discount will apply across all sites…

Three days…

Well I do know that some people have gone back to work or to school today but it really is still slap bang in the middle of the holidays! So you should perhaps treat these three days as a rest… an opportunity to gather strength for the weekend?

We had a fantastic weekend at Roomzzz, how could we not? We were chocka block full with lovely guests and the sun was shining endlessly… what more could we ask for? We did ask our Facebook fans to tell us their favourite things about Roomzzz in Leeds and Manchester and so our weekend was boosted by all the lovely comments we received!

In Leeds Anthony Poad posted “As a regular guest I am pleased to say that this luxurious hotel is a great retreat and i highly recommend it to everyone. Everything from the friendly atmosphere its location the price, style and customer service makes Roomzzz a truly nice place to stay!!

And over on our Manchester page “Stayed at Roomzzz Manchester many times and this is a great place to stay right in the centre of Manchester. The unique rooms are decorated with style so be it the comfy bed, Apple Mac or rain shower you won’t want to stay in any other hotel again!” was posted by Peter-James Powell.

We love hearing your comments and would like to thank Ashliegh Turton, Christopher Pearson, Paul Cooper, Jon Winter, Andrew Byrne, Amy Wright, Angela Pursglove, Anthony Poad, Lucy Atkinson and John Kirkham, who have all won a luxurious stay at Roomzzz this Thursday! To the rest of you stay tuned for news of our next competition and enjoy the sunshine!
