“My wife and I stayed here whilst in Leeds at a friend’s wedding. The hotel is easy to find, and is situated within the ever expanding student quarters of Leeds. There is a car park across the road from the hotel, which could potentially, during busy times, be quite a task to cross. The hotel is very modern and is situated next to a new bar and pizzeria.
Upon entering reception, you are welcomed by a clean and tidy front lobby, with new furniture and a large plasma television with the latest news. The concierge is very polite and well spoken.
As the wedding we were going to had a mid afternoon start, and the fact that my good wife was a bridesmaid and getting ready elsewhere, I found myself at a bit of a loose end as to what to do. I arrived in Leeds shortly before 9am and check-in was not until 3pm, whilst the wedding started at 1.15pm. I spoke to the concierge who told me that they offer an early check-in option for £10 and then explained that the hotel was mainly used by mid-week businessmen, who normally vacated their rooms in the morning. He advised me to call back at 10.30am, when he would have more of an idea if the room I had booked was free and of course cleaned. This sounded very agreeable, so after mooching around Leeds for about an hour, I gave him a call, with him confirming the room had been vacated and would be cleaned and ready for me by 10.45am.
After arriving back at the car park (of which you can pay for by phone and debit card) and back to the hotel, the concierge checked me in. The hotel takes both cash and card, but for a cash payment, they also require your card details for security.
The lobby has refreshments available which include a free coffee machine, and a selection of food and drink, all of which seems to be local produce at a very reasonable price. The lobby then leads onto a corridor for the lift and stairs.
My room was on the second floor. The corridors are well lit and again clean and smell fresh. The room itself, as you can see, is essentially an apartment, complete with working kitchen. This is the first time I have stopped in an “Aparthotel” and I like it. I work away a lot, and having much more space and the option of cooking for yourself appeals to me greatly, rather than stopping in the “same old, same old” Premier Inn (or equivalent generic hotel)
We opted for the standard apartment, but this was more than adequate in size, decor and functionality. The decor is modern, but homely and the kitchen is fully workable complete with utensils, fridge, hob, microwave, washing machine and even a dishwasher! I can see why this may appeal to the mid-week businessmen as it is very much a home from home. The living area has a two seat table complete with chairs, a three seat sofa and a large 30-34” flat screen television. The television also rates 180⁰ so you may watch it in bed.The bed was a double, complete with memory foam mattress. This offers a very comfortable sleep. The bathroom was small, but tidy – consisting of a toilet bowl, basin and shower. It is supplied with quality hand soap and shower gel.
The lobby also has a security team after 10pm.
All in all this is a nice affordable hotel, with the added bonus of being able to cook your meals.
